The site includes four flight lines - the lake, the main land strip, a
helicopter line and a 3-D / park flier strip. The event is one of the largest in the country and attracts 70-80 pilots and a wide range of models from quad copters to jets.
Run by the Christchurch Radio Fliers Club, who gain permission from the City Council and CAA to fly at this reserve, the aim is to encourage model flying and to provide opportunities for people to view a wide range of different types of Radio Controlled flying models.
There are prizes, raffles, food stalls,
and a shop operated by our principal sponsor, Play Concepts during the weekend.
Last year a group of enthusiasts ran a rotorcross event for drones / racing quads and this will run again this year on Friday 26th before the main event begins.

The club requires that fliers are members of MFNZ (Model Flying NZ) and have a
current wings badge. This is for insurance and health and safety reasons. Further details can be found on the club website: http://www.radiofliers.org.nz
